Lebanon > Health Care Access Topic Brief
Access to healthcare in Lebanon is very high: 96% of women and 94% of men reporting having access to a formal healthcare provider or a family doctor. However, the number changes when comparing urban to rural results: only 24% in urban areas report having difficultly accessing a doctor, while 38% in rural communities report the same. The SWMENA survey investigated the extent to which women in Lebanon had access to formal healthcare. The survey also examined issues of affordability, quality of care, utilization, and proximity to medical services. This topic brief presents the principal findings with respect to healthcare and women’s access to it.
