L'Union de l'Action Féminine (UAF)
Once the SWMENA team completed its survey and data collection in Morocco, IFES partnered with a local NGO to provide assistance and guidance in the implementation of the upcoming workshop and the remaining activities for the duration of the project. IFES and UAF have been partners since 2009 and have worked together on the SWMENA survey and topic briefs, developing workshops, and working on extending the SWMENA mission to women’s groups and government officials throughout Morocco. UAF has provided invaluable insight toward the SWMENA initiative throughout the partnership, and continues to do so. Between January and June 2011, CFUWI built on a previous UNDP campaign to advocate for a change to the controversial Lebanese Nationality Law, an issue that IFES collected opinion data on. Over the course of the project, CFUWI held 12 meetings with local activists and parliamentary committees and implemented a massive media campaign throughout Lebanon to advocate on changes to the Law. Here are their stories. The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR)
Since 2009, IFES and the Institute for Women’s Policy Research have been united in the goal of enhancing knowledge surrounding the status of women in the Middle East and North Africa. Based on IWPR’s ongoing Status of Women in the States work, IFES and IWPR SWMENA teams have worked closely to conduct research, design and implement survey campaigns, analyze data and produce topic briefs, and collaborate with regional partners to produce country reports. The IWPR SWMENA team is also producing, with the feedback from IFES and others, an NGO capacity-building tool kit. IWPR has proved an invaluable partner to the SWMENA cause, and continues to provide essential information and perspective.
