Women in Lebanon have significant control over their earned assets. Four in ten women report that their earned income is kept for personal use, and 89% report being able to make independent decisions on how the earnings are used. This topic brief presents key findings about asset control based on data from the 2009 SWMENA survey in Lebanon. It includes an analysis of women’s control over assets focusing on how earnings are spent, financial decision making, and control over personal property, financial savings and loans. The data is presented to compare responses from those women who work for pay and those who are unemployed, as well as age and monthly earnings.
